Eco Fabrics

There are some exciting new developments in fabrics made with natural and recycled fibres, including:

Modal
Modal is a natural fibre made by spinning reconstituted cellulose from beech trees. Modal does not pill and is resistant to shrinkage and fading. It is super soft, and colour-fast when washed in warm water. Like pure cotton, Modal should ideally be ironed after washing. It offers a natural moisture absorption and evaporation rate that's even faster than cotton.

Eco Bamboo
This is made from 66% bamboo, 28% cotton, and 6% spandex. Bamboo is a soft, smooth and naturally grown fibre that requires zero chemical pesticides to flourish. Eco-Bamboo is a blend : cotton adds strength and durability and spandex gives it the right amount of stretch and flex. Apparel made with this fabric generally fits well and will stand up to a long life of laundering and wear. Soft, stretchy, naturally moisture wicking and anti-odour. Bamboo contains a natural agent ("bamboo-kun") that prevents bacterial growth.

100% Green Cotton
Garments classified as 'GREEN COTTON' are processed in New Zealand to certain rigid standards as follows:
- no toxic substances are used in the fabric manufacturing operations
- fibres are GE free
- fabric processes do not release any harmful substances into the soil, waterway or atmosphere.

100% Organic Cotton
Garments manufactured from 'Organic Cotton' have the following desirable attributes:
- cotton plants are grown without the use of herbicides and pesticides
- fabric is processed as per 'Green Cotton' standards above
- fabric is GE free.
