Embroidering garments is an attractive way to promote your business or team and with Racebred's state of the art in-house embroidery service we take pride in helping you develop a design that is right for you. Click here now if you would like to discuss this with us. Embroidery can be directly onto a garment or made into a badge. Embroidered logos create a statement like no other. A traditional method of decorating products, embroidery stands the test of time due to its effectiveness in enhancing logos. Embroidery is perfect for adding value to any promotion.
One Stop Shop
Our embroidery is done in-house, providing our customers with a truly one stop shop, which saves you time and the inconvenience of sending your garments elsewhere for embroidery.
Embroidery Pricing
This is based on the number of stitches in your logo. An average logo costs $60.00 to set up (this is a once-only cost), and $4.00 + GST per garment/position. We are happy to provide you with a quote to set up your logo/s and advise approximate cost per garment/position.
Lead Times
Digitising is the process by which a logo is set up, and can take 1-2 days. We then sample your logo and send it to you for approval. Embroidery of your order usually takes 5-7 days from logo approval, but can be done sooner if required. For repeat orders, turn-around time depends on the number of garments, how many logos are on each garment, logo size and Racebred's current production capacity. Normal lead-times are 7-10 days from placement of order.
Artwork Requirements
We prefer artwork to be emailed in jpeg format. This will make it easier to digitise and quote on. If you cannot provide artwork in this format, a picture, bromide or business card is acceptable, however it will make digitising and quoting more difficult. If you know the Pantone/PMS colours in your logo, please let us know as this will enable us to match more accurately.
What is Digitising?
This is a process of 'tracing' over the top of a jpeg image. This normally takes 1-2 days to produce and stitch out. (See example of a digitised embroidery program.) The set-up cost includes an embroidered sample of your logo. We will continue to digitise, and sample your logo, until you get the result you are after. We offer a high quality digitising service.
Number of Stitches
Generally the more stitches in the logo, the higher the cost and the longer it takes to embroider. In digitising, fewer stitches can be used for reduced cost, but this will affect the appearance & quality of the finished product. More stitches are usually better!
Quantity
Most embroidery companies' charges vary with quantity, making it difficult for you to know the set price of any item. At Racebred we provide one set price no matter what the quantity.
Type of Stitch & Thread
To achieve a required detail or effect, a range of stitches may be used, affecting the price. Metallic threads are more expensive and provide a steel effect. Glow in the dark threads are limited in colours and extremely expensive, increasing the cost of any individual logo up to three times.
Logo Complexity
The fineness of the logo, and the use of in-fill shading, colour blends and effects, tend to increase the stitch count and the digitising time. Gaps between letters or images add trims, which increase run time. Good digitising will look superior and will reduce run time and turn-around time for future orders.
Logo Size
A large logo requires a larger hoop, larger vilene (backing), and a higher stitch count and is generally more expensive. More stitches, more time on the machine, more thread used, more wages paid etc... However, with some smaller logos (when they are too small, especially with some text) we have to slow the machine down. As a guideline, text needs to be a minimum height of 5mm in order to achieve definition.
Fabrics
Polo shirts are amongst the easiest and most commonly embroidered items, but even these come in a wide variety of fabrics that influence the general preparation of the garment. Bags and jackets can take longer to prepare though the embroidery clarity is always excellent. Compendiums and document satchels fall under this category also. Towelling and polar fleece often need an in-fill background or a general thickening to prevent the logo "sinking" into the fabric.
Apparel and accessories come in a range of fabrics including wool, polyester, lycra, polar fleece, cotton, nylon, leather, PVC etc. The weight and texture of each fabric also varies. The material affects ease of working, tension required for embroidering, stitch count required for clarity and time to prepare - all cost factors. Generally, the denser and heavier the fabric (for example, most jacket fabrics), the better your logo will look.
Most items that have been embroidered will be left with a hoop mark around the logo. This easily disappears after the garment has been pressed with a warm iron or has been washed.
Other Branding Options
As alternatives to embroidery, a logo or brand or pattern can be applied using screen print, embossing, or labels and badges (plastic, rubber or woven). Refer to other branding options in our website. Generally, embroidery has the best combination of finished appearance, longest life and unit cost.
